Persepsi Ibu Bapa Terhadap Impak Penggunaan Hukuman Fizikal dalam Prasekolah
Abstract
Hukuman fizikal merupakan kaedah yang lama digunakan oleh guru di sekolah bagi meningkatkan kualiti pelajaran dan memodifikasi tingkah laku kanak-kanak. Walaupun kebanyakan negara di seluruh dunia telah melarang penggunaan hukuman fizikal dalam bilik darjah, kebanyakan pendidik masih menggunakan hukuman fizikal yang pelbagai tahap dalam bilik darjah bagi mengurangkan tingkah laku negatif murid dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Kajian kes ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti persepsi ibu bapa terhadap kesan penggunaan hukuman fizikal dalam bilik darjah prasekolah. Kajian kes ini dijalankan melalui kaedah temu bual separa berstruktur terhadap 9 orang ibu bapa yang terdiri daripada pelbagai latar belakang. Berdasarkan hasil dapatan, terdapat impak yang positif dan negatif penggunaan hukuman fizikal dalam prasekolah. Kajian menjelaskan impak positif seperti memodifikasi tingkah laku negatif kanak-kanak, mengawal tingkah laku murid yang agresif dan menjadikan murid lebih menghormati kepada orang dewasa, manakala terdapat impak negatif seperti menjejaskan keyakinan diri murid, menjejaskan hubungan antara murid dengan guru, murid dengan rakan sebaya, motivasi untuk hadir ke sekolah terjejas dan menanam sifat keganasan. Diharapkan kajian ini dapat memberi pendedahan kepada guru prasekolah bagi mempertimbangkan penggunaan hukuman fizikal dalam bilik darjah.
