Potensi Penggunaan Media Sosial Terhadap Kemahiran Komunikasi Interpersonal Guru Pelatih Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG)
Abstract
Kajian kuantitatif berbentuk tinjauan ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti trend penggunaan media sosial dan kemahiran komunikasi interpersonal guru pelatih di Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG) serta menentukan hubungan penggunaan media sosial terhadap kemahiran komunikasi interpersonal. Sejumlah 279 orang guru pelatih dari IPG Kampus Ipoh telah terlibat dalam kajian ini melalui teknik persampelan rawak mudah. Soal selidik kajian ini diadaptasikan daripada Social Networking Sites Usage & Needs Scale (SNSUN) dan Interpersonal Communication Competence Scale (ICCS). Data telah dianalisis secara deskriptif (kekerapan, peratus, min dan sisihan piawai) dan inferensi (Ujian Korelasi Spearman Rho). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahawa majoriti guru pelatih IPG mempunyai lebih daripada empat akaun media sosial dan aktif dalam mengakses media sosial. Aplikasi WhatsApp, Instagram dan Facebook merupakan tiga aplikasi media sosial yang sering digunakan oleh guru pelatih IPG. Hasil kajian ini turut menunjukkan bahawa kemahiran komunikasi interpersonal guru pelatih berada pada tahap yang sederhana tinggi (M=3.56). Analisis korelasi menunjukkan bahawa tidak wujudnya hubungan antara masa penggunaan media sosial dengan kemahiran komunikasi interpersonal [rs (277)=0.057, p>0.01, N=279]. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa masa penggunaan media sosial tidak berperanan dalam mempengaruhi kemahiran komunikasi interpersonal guru pelatih. Justeru, punca-punca lain yang mempengaruhi kemahiran komunikasi interpersonal guru pelatih penting dikenal pasti pada kajian yang selanjutnya agar penguasaan kemahiran komunikasi interpersonal guru pelatih dapat dipertingkatkan kepada tahap yang optimum.
